1. Pilot status and scope
Metlio is currently in a private pilot. The pilot is intended for product evaluation using fictional/demo patient information only. Do not enter real patient health information, protected health information, or other sensitive personal information into the pilot unless and until Metlio launches a production service that expressly supports that use.
2. Information we receive
The current pilot may receive information you choose to provide through the pilot feedback form, including your role, ratings, comments, and optional contact email. Company email communications may contain the information you choose to send us. The public website does not currently include account registration, advertising trackers, or behavioral analytics.
3. Information stored locally in the pilot
The pilot stores profile settings, demo logs, saved foods/feeds, formula recipes, lab/test entries and related pilot settings in your browser local storage. This information generally remains on the device/browser you use unless you clear browser data, reset the pilot, or the browser removes stored data. Metlio does not intend the private pilot to be used as a cloud health record.
4. Barcode scanner and third-party product data
If you use the barcode feature, the browser may request camera permission to read a barcode. The camera image stream is used for scanning in the browser and is not intentionally uploaded to Metlio. The resulting barcode may be sent to Open Food Facts to retrieve product information. Open Food Facts data is community-sourced and may be incomplete or inaccurate. Verify nutrition information against the product label and your care team guidance.
5. How we use information
We use pilot feedback and communications to evaluate usability, identify bugs, understand requested features, respond to questions, improve Metlio, maintain the pilot, protect against misuse, and prepare for future product development. We do not sell pilot feedback or personal information to advertisers.
6. Service providers
Metlio uses third parties to operate the current pilot and company communications. These may include Netlify for hosting and feedback forms, Microsoft 365 for email, GoDaddy for domain and email administration, Open Food Facts for barcode/product lookup, and third-party content delivery infrastructure used to load the barcode scanning library. 7. Health privacy and HIPAA
Metlio does not claim that the current private pilot is a HIPAA-compliant service, and the pilot should not be used for real patient health information. Whether HIPAA applies to a future production Metlio service will depend on how the service is offered and its relationships with healthcare providers and other covered entities.
8. Children and dependent information
Metlio accounts and pilot use are intended for adults. The service is not directed to children under 13 and children should not submit personal information directly. Parents, legal guardians, and authorized caregivers may evaluate the pilot using fictional/demo dependent information only. Production handling of dependent health data will be addressed before real patient data is permitted.
9. Retention and deletion
Local pilot data remains in your browser until you delete it, reset the pilot, or browser storage is cleared. Feedback and support communications are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for pilot evaluation, support, legal obligations, security, and dispute resolution. To request deletion of identifiable feedback or communications, contact privacy@metlio.care.
10. Security
We use reasonable measures appropriate to the pilot stage to protect the systems we operate, but no internet service or device storage is completely secure. The current pilot is not designed for sensitive production health data.
11. Your choices
You may choose not to submit optional feedback or contact information. You can revoke camera permission through your browser/device settings. You can clear locally stored pilot data through the pilot reset controls or browser site-data controls. You may contact privacy@metlio.care about identifiable feedback or communications.
12. Changes
We may update this policy as Metlio develops, adds production accounts, changes service providers, or begins supporting real health information. The effective date will be updated when material changes are made.
